PSF: Changing Lives A Dime At A Time
The Philippi Sports Foundation (PSF) has collaborated with "Yahoo" to introduce the "Changing Lives A Dime At A Time" fundraising program. Similar programs are currently being used by major universities, independent foundations, youth organizations, private businesses and nonprofits.
How It Works!
A customized Yahoo "Philippi Sports Foundation" search engine toolbar has been created and ready for download by Foundation supporters. By downloading and using the Philippi Sports Foundation toolbar (i.e., search engine) in normal, everyday internet searches (the same information you currently receive in your everyday searches) you are helping raise money to support the programming needs of the Philippi Sports Foundation. Specifically, every time you click on a sponsored link you are raising 10 cents for the organization (no additional purchase is necessary). For example, if 100 supporters perform two internet searches a day, they will help generate $600 a month in funding for much needed resources benefiting children with less fortunate backgrounds.
How You Can Help!

The Philippi Sports Foundation and the "Changing Lives" program was created to ensure the ideals of a healthy lifestyle, support for education and introduction to sports are carried on to benefit those with less fortunate backgrounds. In addition to mentoring opportunities, the Foundation provides children opportunities to participate in sessions promoting fitness/nutrition, in character education based on Sean Covey’s “Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens” and in athletic competitions that strengthen a positive self image, emphasize teamwork, teach discipline, promote goal setting and demonstrate the commitment it takes to achieve such goals.
Each year many young people benefit from this program as the Foundation continues to advance its mission. For a young person, the world is filled with a future of choices and a choice of futures. Early exposure to sport and education, effective encouragement and continual support build self confidence, established a strong foundation for a healthy lifestyle and provides a sense of purpose to achieve goals never thought possible. Even the smallest donation makes a big difference in their life and puts them on a path for future success!
Additionally, the long-term effects of not embracing physical fitness and proper nutrition cripple opportunities to pursue all life has to offer and too often can be life-threatening. Over 40 million people are obese, eight out of every ten people over the age of twenty-five are overweight and 78% of all Americans are not meeting basic activity level recommendations. Obese individuals also have an increased risk of serious disease including diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
